Duraflame Color Log, doing its stuff.  You can see the different hues, mostly along the bottom. It wasn’t bad, but perhaps I was expecting too much from it.

Black cat roasting by an open fire.

I’m a genius. My fireplace has vents on each side, one at the top and one near the floor, which are meant work by convection, drawing cold air into the bottom vents and expelling heated air out the top ones. So I figured I’d speed up the process by putting little fans at the bottom vents, forcing air into them. Works like a charm.

Second fire of the season, but the first with real wood.  The crappy wood the flood left behind sizzles, pops and smokes, but otherwise burns better than I expected.
